Now Is a Good Time
I didn’t work out any New Year’s Resolutions on January 1st. It is now half-way through the month and I have finally started working out my big goals for 2016, and my goals for the next 90 days and smaller goals for the next few weeks. The timing is not the important thing, it is working out what it is you want to achieve and breaking that down to goals and then tasks in shorter time frames. Making the plan is the important thing. Now is a great time to do it.
2016 will be a great year because I have the success of 2015 to build on. When you are starting out it can be hard to believe that working out what you want to achieve and writing it down can make a difference. Breaking it down to smaller 90 day and weekly tasks can be difficult because you have no reference point for what may or may not succeed. The only way to know for sure is to do it. Start the process, do the steps and very quickly the reference points for success will happen. Be flexible enough to change your plans if you have to, expect some learning experiences (failures) but never ever give up. In a few months time you can revisit your original plans and see how you are travelling. Next year the process will be easier as the experiences from this year on “how to do it” and the “why to do it” will be so much clearer.
So if you haven’t yet set some New Year’s Resolutions, or you have already fallen off the wagon, grab a pen and paper and set down your big dream and then work back from that, committing it all to paper for future reference and also to get your conscious and unconscious self working with you. Make it a true commitment to have your New Year’s Resolutions as an intention, not just wishful thinking, by writing them out, sharing them with an accountability buddy and doing one small task today that will set you on the path.
