Are Your Thoughts About the New Year Productive?

January 1, 2019 Thoughts

artIt is the start of a New Year, which might mean New Years Resolutions for some, or a ho-hum just another year attitude from others.  Your thoughts about the year will set up how it turns out.  Do you know what it is you want from life this coming year?  Are you passionate about your dreams and willing to put in effort every day to achieve them?

Last Year

I start off thinking about the past year.  It is incredibly helpful to think about all the things you did achieve.  Sometimes you can be so focused on the things you didn’t get done, you miss the good things.  My last year was epic. Early in the year I got to spend almost 7 weeks with family while waiting for the birth of a grandchild.  I went on my first cruise.  We cleared a much bigger area around the house, and I got my goats.  I lost a few trees as the goats came before the fence was finished, but at least they are finished now.  I am now Secretary in the two groups I participate in which keeps me more in the loop.  Over the last year I have focused on my art and in February I will have my first exhibition.

There were a few negatives during the year.  This is my first blog post in six months.  My thoughts and feelings about it changed.

Coming Year

To continue on my mastery of Art.  Drawing, painting and woodwork, including wood carving, are a big part of my week now.

To build a studio.  Doing it as cheap as possible means building an earth bag studio.  It will be a challenge and yet also a great way to stay fit and to be able to do it in my own time.

Also to teach.  I know it is possible to live completely free of depression.  Also, I have a strong desire to be part of a new awakening.  Life as we know it will change. Climate change, political unrest, the growing economic divide all have to be faced and new solutions found.  As Einstein said, “you can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.”  Dealing with how to market this message, to work within the “noise” that is out there to find the people who desire the same things I do is my big challenge for this year.

My list is written for the year.  It may seem simplistic, to write a wish list for the year, and yet it has worked for me for the last couple of years, and I know it will happen again.

How are your thoughts about the New Year?  Do you need some help to get your thoughts, dreams and desires heading in the right direction?
